No idea on the numbers, haven't heard anything yet. Impossible to guess cuz they had bikes leaving from a couple different places on the base + the new staggered format just made it impossible to even guess.

Mal & Hammer were just victims of being in front of Lizzie's camera most of the day. :)

Well I finally got my ass out and met some of the group. What a great bunch!!A little wet at the base but the ride was pretty much dry.A couple of fly overs at the base by hercules aircraft ( I think-not much good at I.D.ing aircraft).
I had to get off at Bowmanville (had orders from the boss) and got home to a suprise birthday party for yours truly.Somebody opened wine and whisky bottles and.....................well I'm pretty sure I had a good time. :anxious: :anxious:
I had a great day!!!!!
:) :) :)

I don't know, but I thought the organization of this ride sucked ! The main first group left with the police escort, an left us sitting there, then they sent us off 50 at a time un escorted to get to the destination. Meanwhile we had some moron we didn't know leading our group, swerving back an forth through traffic on the 401. Sorry but I got peed-off , peeled out ,an left the group, but I didn't feel like playing that game. Got to the destination an right away went to get a T-shirt, oooooh sorry got no XXL sizes, WTF!!!!!@#*!.
ERRR! maybe I just shouldn't be getting up at 4:30 AM.

On a lighter note , was nice to see some old and new fellow Xriders. Always great company. And thanks to mother nature for providing us with some decent weather. Great pic's Liz, left my camera on the front steps.

Dave..that is really cool. NICE FIND. Thanks for posting the link. I went to it and sure enough, Grace and I were in the shot too, just in front of you and Lizzie. How did the video of the ride turn out?

Here are some other shots I took, caught Kurt in one of them. It has been a great start this summer, met several new X Riders so far this year!!!

Thank god the weather held up...I was beginning to wonder when it started to rain before we left...

Breakfast at the base...Not bad for $7 don't you think

A few us at the rally point. It was tough to guage how many bikes as there were several parking lots full like ours, but we couldn't see them.

Hey Randy,I bet our moron was bigger than your moron.I think I was in the group ahead of you and just behind the lead off group.I was never on a ride with this many bikes so didn't know what to expect.By the time we got to the 401 we had already left half the group behind at lights in Trenton leaving me at the rear, which turned out to be a good spot.I was keeping up until we passed 140 km/hr and I backed off.I caught up a little later. Our moron was also weaving in and out.I figure we were 10 to 15 minutes behind the lead group leaving Trenton but caught up to them at Hwy 115.We were flying, weaving in and out on a crowded highway.
It was a white knuckle ride for me.Got my attention in a big way.I'll go again but will do my own ride.

I was talking to my brother-in-law about the ride. He was one of the 20 escorts for the lead group. Apperently the Organisers did not have Permits and Insurance for the ride, so only the first group was escorted.
That is why we were un-guided and left to fend for ourselves at lights ect...

Last time for me. :nono:

I also have problems with the way we went down the highway and the lack of police support. I dunno anything about permits & insurance.. I do know the organizers had a shitload of meetings with the OPP and Metro cops. The assistance we received from them was the max they were willing to offer.

The Toronto ride this year was a one-off. For next year they're talking about flipping the ride. Starting in Toronto and ending in Trenton where the new Afghan Memorial is being built. There's even talk of an air show.

This ride has become pretty symbolically important to me so it definitely won't be my last one.. I'll be in it as long as it runs. But I do look forward to some changes.
